Buffalo Creek

Located an hour west of Denver, the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area features smooth, rolling singletrack and lots of variety. The diverse trail system meanders through areas unaffected by fire, as well as surreal, barren landscapes still rebounding from past forest fires. These are among the best trails in the greater Denver region. You will enjoy mountain views, majestic rock formations, great downhills, smooth roller coasters, and almost all singletrack!

Trail Adopter Program

The Buffalo Creek Trail System is a collection of 20 trails; most of them within the USFS managed Pike Forest, a large undertaking indeed for one person to manage. To more efficiently maintain these trails, COMBA is putting into practice a “Trail Adopter” program modeled after similar successful implementations by other organizations. James Kovaly will remain as the overall Trail Coordinator for...Read more

2016 Buffalo Creek Trail Work Plans

Much work has been done on the Buffalo Creek Trail System in the past few years, including three new trail builds: Blackjack, Raspberry Ridge, and Little Scraggy East. The Buffalo Creek Trails are considered one of the top 3 trail systems in the country – but more effort is needed to keep them on the podium! I regularly receive questions and feedback regarding current and future plans for Buffalo...Read more

Little Scraggy Trail Construction Update

On Friday, August 8th, we were joined by 24 employees of Oppenheimer Funds as part of their corporate volunteer program. Trail building is a little out of the norm for their volunteer program but they decided to give it a go this year and we’re glad they did. The volunteers weren’t quite sure what they were getting themselves into but based on the laughter, stories and good natured teasing at the...Read more
