Trails Use Task Force Meeting -- Tuesday, May 25th

Trails Use Task Force Meeting – Tuesday, May 25th

COMBA would like to encourage all riders to participate in the Trails Use Task Force (TUTF) meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, in the Jefferson County Open Space administrative offices, 700 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden.

TUTF is comprised of representatives from the various user groups (bikers, hikers and equestrians) that meet twice a year to inform the Jefferson County Open Space Advisory Committee on issues related to trail conflict and recreation on park lands. We have representatives from the mountain biking user group who need our comments.

Interesting agenda items for this meeting include a chance to meet Tom Hoby, the new Open Space director, and an update on changes at Apex Park. There will also be discussion about the county’s communication program, education & outreach opportunities and the distribution of bandanas with trail policies.

Mr. Hoby, who is a recreational mountain biker, was named the new chief of JCOS on March 1 and started the job March 31. Prior to assuming the role, he was director of Parks, Recreation and Open Space for Highlands Ranch Metro District. As Open Space director, Hoby works closely with the board of county commissioners, county administrator and Open Space Advisory Committee. He oversees the management and operations of the Open Space Division. Mr. Hoby replaces Ralph Schell, who was tapped to be Jefferson County administrator.

Consider coming to show your support to Mr. Hoby while he tackles his new assignment. Come show how much mountain bikers love our Open Space, our trails and our opportunities to ride. Let’s encourage the Open Space organization to find a willing, cooperative, and valuable, partner in the mountain biking community.

If you can’t make the meeting, feel free to send comments or MTB-related issues in advance to TUTF Mountain Bike Representative Kyle Henley, a former COMBA board member, at khenleytutf@gmail.com.
