Sandy Wash Trail Maintenance, BBQ and Night Ride Saturday, November 5, 2011
COMBA, in cooperation with the USFS, is holding a trail work day on Saturday, November 5th to do
maintenance on Sandy Wash trail in the Bualo Creek Recreation Area. A post work BBQ and night
ride are part of the gig too!
How To Get There: From the intersection of C-470 and US Highway 285 (Hampden Ave.), take 285 south
approximately 20 miles to Pine Junction. Turn left at the trac light onto Cty. Rd. 126. Take 126 south
about 10 miles to the town of Bualo Ck. Turn right onto USFS Rd. 543 at the Bualo Creek Community
Center. The staging area is about 1.5 miles west on 543. There is limited parking at the staging area so
please park in the lot past the Community Center and either ride your bike or hike to the staging area.
See map.
What To Bring/Wear: The temperature could be cool so dress accordingly in warm, sturdy work clothes.
Boots, long pants and work gloves are recommended. A hat, sunglasses and long sleeve shirts are
suggested. Bring your hydration pack lled with water, lunch and snacks to eat on the trail. And
remember the sun screen. COMBA will provide the tools unless you just happen to have a few spare
McLeods sitting around.
Schedule: Meet at the staging area at 9:30 am (see map below). At 9:45 am, there will be a general
meeting, safety talk and we’ll divide into trail crews. At 10:00 am, we’ll begin hiking up Sandy Wash to
the various work sites. We’ll work until 2:00 pm and return to the staging area. COMBA will host a post
work BBQ and ride after. We’ll even have some lights available for demo for a night ride.
So c’mon out and help us show one of the favorite Bu Ck. trails some love. To register, please go here:
